5 Fascinating Facts Surrounding the NFL Divisional Playoffs

The NFL Divisonal Playoffs start just hours from now. Here are a few fascinating facts and a little history surrounding the eight teams who will be competing to make their way to the conference playoff games next weekend.

1. The Colts franchise apparently knows how to draft quarterbacks. Unfortunately, John Elway never played with the team and Jeff George was….well, Jeff George. Anyway, pretty cool graphic below.

2. The Baltimore Ravens allowed the fifth-fewest quarterback touchdowns (21) all season. On the other hand, Tom Brady threw the fifth-most touchdowns (33) during the 2014 season. Both of these facts will be held to the test on Saturday.

3. Joe Flacco has the most road wins for a quarterback in NFL Playoff history.

By beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh last week, Flacco achieved the seventh road game playoff victory of his career. Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady each have three road playoff wins while Peyton Manning has two postseason road wins.

4. The last time the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers were in a playoff game together was in the 2005 NFC Championship game.

In that game, the Seahawks were victorious under quarterback Matt Hasselbeck who passed for 219 yards and scored two touchdowns. Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme threw three interceptions in the 34-14 loss.

5. The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers will play their seventh playoff game against each other on Sunday. It’s also the first time in Green Bay since the 1967 “Ice Bowl.” Dallas leads the series 4-2. Note that all of Dallas’ wins were at home.
