The San Francisco 49ers signed veteran cornerback Buster Skrine to a one-year deal Wednesday.
Terms were not disclosed.
Skrine, 32, was released by the Chicago Bears in March to free up cap space.
He played in 12 games last season (three starts) with the Bears, finishing with 66 tackles, three passes defensed and a forced fumble.
Skrine has nine career interceptions and 573 tackles in 151 games (92 starts) with the Cleveland Browns (2011-14), New York Jets (2015-18) and Bears. He was selected by the Browns in the fifth round of the 2011 draft.
The 49ers also opened the injured reserve practice windows for cornerback Davontae Harris and defensive tackle Maurice Hurst.
