49ers reportedly signing former Eagles WR Jordan Matthews

Jordan Matthews was traded from the Eagles to the Bills

After addressing the defensive side of the ball with Pro Bowlers Dee Ford and Kwon Alexander, general manager John Lynch and the San Francisco 49ers are moving on to the other side of the ball.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, San Francisco has signed former Philadelphia Eagles second-round pick wide receiver Jordan Matthews.

Matthews, 26, was rock solid for the Eagles over the course of his first three NFL seasons after they selected him in the 2014 NFL Draft. That span saw the Vanderbilt product catch 158 passes for 1,801 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Matthews has caught just 55 passes for 582 yards over the past two seasons, splitting time between the Buffalo Bills and the Eagles. At 6-foot-3, he’ll provide Jimmy Garoppolo with a big target on the outside.

This move comes after San Francisco added former Atlanta Falcons running back Tevin Coleman on a two-year deal Wednesday.
