49ers CEO: ‘I think we will Figure out a Way’ to Keep Frank Gore

San Francisco 49ers’ running back Frank Gore would love to remain with the team until he retires. It now appears the team would like to keep him playing in San Francisco as well.

CEO Jed York had this to say about Gore and the idea of re-signing the running back (via the San Francisco Chronicle).

I think we’ll figure out a way. That’s my feeling.

York’s statement concurs with these comments made by coach Jim Tomsula last month at the NFL Scouting Combine.

I mean, Frank Gore, we talk about all the things that he has — you mentioned the leadership and the passion and all those things — but let’s not overlook that he is a prolific running back in the National Football League,” Tomsula said. “I’m a big Frank Gore guy.”

If the team does re-sign Gore, it won’t be anything close to the enormous deal that Seattle Seahawks’ running back Marshawn Lynch just received that reportedly will pay him $31 million over the next three years. A deal for less than $4 million per season seems to make the most sense here.

If all works out well, Gore would begin his 11th season in San Francisco where he has rushed for a total of 11,073 yards with 52 touchdowns. If not, there will be a solid market for Gore’s services come Tuesday.
