The Cincinnati Reds placed star first baseman Joey Votto on the injured list Sunday and reinstated pitcher Anthony DeSclafani.

Joey Votto self-reported COVID-19 symptoms, but no positive test

According to C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic, Votto was placed on the injured list after he self-reported symptoms of COVID-19 Sunday morning.

However, there is no positive test at this time, and there is a possibility he could miss just two days without one.

The Reds have had a couple other players experience a similar issue. Mike Moustakas and Nick Senzel both were placed on the injured list after feeling sick, but both ended up coming back after negative COVID-19 tests cleared them of the coronavirus.

Hopefully the same process will see Votto back on the diamond for Cincinnati, sooner rather than later.

In seven games this season, Votto is batting .259 with two home runs, five RBI and six runs scored.
