It was late last month that Los Angeles Clippers star and three time Sixth Man of the Year winner Lou Williams was excused from the Orlando bubble to deal with a family emergency.

Shortly after that, it was noted that the NBA was investigating Williams for hitting up an Atlanta-based gentlemen’s club. This forced the veteran guard into quarantine and led to him missing the first two games of the NBA restart for his Clippers. He’s now back.

The Clippers went 1-1 in the two games that Williams was in quarantine. That included a narrow loss to the Los Angeles Lakers this past Thursday.

Only 1.5 games ahead of the Denver Nuggets for the second seed in the Western Conference, it’s imperative that Los Angeles gets the most from Williams moving forward. That’s only magnified by the fact that fellow big-time scorer Montrezl Harrell remains away from the team due to a death in his family.

Lou Williams can score, and a lot

Williams, 33, is averaging 18.7 points on 36% shooting from three-point range thus far this season. He’s averaged 17-plus points in each of the past five seasons and is coming off a 2018-19 campaign in which the former second-round pick averaged 20 points for Los Angeles.

The Clippers have a relatively easier go at it Tuesday against the Phoenix Suns. After that, they take on another guaranteed playoff team in that of the Dallas Mavericks. Los Angeles has six regular-season games remaining until the start of the NBA Playoffs.
