It was just three years ago that Brazilian MMA fighter Amanda Lemos’ attempt at making it big in the UFC was thrown for a loop.

Then 30 years old, Lemos was suspended for two years by United States Anti-Doping Agency after testing positive for the steroid stanozolol. This came months after she had suffered her first professional defeat in the Octagon.

Although, this isn’t the huge story surrounding the strawweight. One year earlier, while working as a motorcycle taxi driver in Brazil earning $15-$20 a day, Lemos was in an accident resulting in a fractured spine.

“I fell off the motorcycle a few times, had some accidents, it was quite complicated. I would ride from morning until the night, and even overnight sometimes,” she said, via MMA Fighting. “It all depended on how much money I was making, you know? When I got some money early I would stop and get some rest, otherwise I would not stop riding.”

With this backstory, Lemos took to the Octagon during UFC Vegas 7 Saturday evening at the Apex. The end result was a resounding win over Mizuki Inoue that included this violent sequence.

Lemos, 27, would end up going on to win via decision to complete one of the biggest upsets of the night thus far in Vegas.

Despite landing less strikes than Inoue, Lemos connected on 26 more significant strikes and took down her counterpart two more times in the process.

The end result is an 8-1-1 professional record and the culmination of a comeback she has been attempting for over the past several years.
