WATCH: Top Blue Jays’ prospect Nate Pearson throwing gas in MLB debut

Top Toronto Blue Jays prospect Nate Pearson made his Major League debut Wednesday evening against the Washington Nationals after shockingly being left off the Opening Day roster.

Hours after being called up, the big 6-foot-6 righty was out there dominating the defending World Series champs and going toe-to-toe with Max Scherzer. That included Pearson yielding just two hits and zero runs while striking out five in as many innings of work.

It started with a strikeout of Trea Turner to open the game. That came on an off-speed pitch.

Pearson then got Carter Kieboom looking on a filthy 99 mile-per-hour fast ball that painted the corner.

The No. 8 prospect in all of baseball heading into the season, Blue Jays fans have been waiting for Pearson to make his debut for some time now.

The 23-year-old former first-round pick pitched to a 5-4 record with a 2.30 ERA and 0.89 WHIP while striking out 119 batters in 101.2 innings in three minor league stops a season ago.

Needless to say, those watching the game from the nation’s capital Wednesday night took note.
