Justin Rohrwasser apologized shortly after the 2020 NFL Draft after fans discovered he had a ‘Three Percenters’ tattoo on his arm. Now, according to TMZ Sports, the fifth-round pick has had it removed.

At the time of his apology, the 23-year-old said he believed the tattoo was meant to honor the colonists who stood to fight the British. While he viewed it as a patriotic symbol at the time, many pointed to what the symbol now stands for today.

The Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League both classify the Three Percenters as an anti-government, right-wing extremist group. Parts of the group have been tied to racist extremists, which caused the backlash against Rohrwasser.

Rohrwasser, who earned All-Conference USA honors in 2019 at Marshall University, reportedly began the process to remove it almost immediately. After several rounds of a painful process, per TMZ, the tattoo is now gone.

After being drafted by the Patriots in the fifth round, Rohrwasser is expected to be the team’s kicker this season.
