It was just a matter of time before a star player on a contending team tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the NBA resuming its season on July 30.
It’s now happened to a player on one of the top title contenders in the Association.
Milwaukee Bucks star Eric Bledsoe tests positive for COVID-19
While Bledsoe is not feeling any symptoms, this could potentially keep him away from Orlando for the resumption of the season. We’ve seen other players opt out after contracting the virus.
Obviously, the concern is over Bledsoe’s health. But this could have wide-ranging ramifications for the team with the NBA’s best record.
Milwaukee Bucks seen as legit NBA title contenders
Recent betting odds have the Bucks favored to go up against the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2020 NBA Finals this coming October.
Depending on Bledsoe’s status moving forward, this could be some rather big news for Milwaukee.
A former first-round pick of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Bledsoe has started all 56 games in which he’s appeared for Milwaukee this season. He’s averaging 15.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists on a studly 48% shooting from the field.
Any long-term absence pertaining to Bledsoe would likely mean that George Hill enters the starting five for Milwaukee.
The Bucks will resume their season July 31 against another top-end title contender in that of the Boston Celtics.
