The Las Vegas Raiders welcomed their coaching staff to team headquarters in Nevada Monday for the first time ever, and one thing stood out. The hype video the team released on Twitter shows that not all the coaches were wearing a mask.

This could be a problem. The spread of COVID-19 can be significantly reduced by wearing masks, but that strategy won’t work as well if everyone doesn’t buy in.

Additionally, it’s only going to be harder to keep the virus from spreading once players arrive, presumably in late July for training camp.

Las Vegas COVID-19 numbers rising

The city of Las Vegas recently opened up casinos and restaurants, and many people are arriving on the scene without masks. It’s become a big problem.

Per Fox 5 in Las Vegas, “Nevada reported 445 additional new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, the second straight day the state recorded its largest single-day jump in new cases since the start of the pandemic.” Additionally, four-fifths of the positive cases were from Clark County, where Las Vegas is.

Not surprisingly, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak is considering mandating masks be worn in public.
