Four-star wide receiver Troy Franklin commits to Oregon Ducks

Troy Franklin, ranked as the second-best receiver in the country by 247 Sports, narrowed his choices to Arizona State, Alabama, Oregon and Washington. On Friday night, with thousands of football fans watching on Instagram Live, Franklin revealed he’ll be headed to Oregon.

It’s a massive addition for Oregon’s 2020 recruiting class. The Ducks already came into the week with an outstanding collection of committed talent. They’ve now just added a 6-foot-2 receiver with some explosive ability who could excel in Oregon’s offense. Following Franklin’s decision, the Ducks now have No. 8 overall class in the nation and the second-best class in the PAC-12, per 247 Sports

Troy Franklin’s highlights and Oregon’s recruiting class

Franklin, a star at Menlo-Atherton High School, is a big play waiting to happen. Across 31 games entering his senior season, he has hauled in 102 receptions for 1,790 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns, according to MaxPreps. He also proved to be an explosive runner, racking up 236 rushing yards as a sophomore in 2018.

As Franklin’s highlights prove, he is one of the best high school receivers in the United States. Not only that, but he is also the No. 31 overall player in the country and the third-best recruit in California, a state full of talent.

Franklin becomes Oregon’s top prospect from its 2021 recruiting class entering the weekend. He is also the second wide receiver, joining Kyvon Ware-Hudson from Mater Dei High School, to commit to the Ducks.

While the Ducks have lost some ground on Emeka Egbuka, the No. 1 receiver in the 2021 recruiting class, they are still in on plenty of great talent. This will prove to be another strong year on the recruiting trail for head coach Mario Cristobal.
