Report: Henry Ruggs III expected to be fully recovered from injury in time for training camp

Las Vegas Raiders rookie receiver Henry Ruggs recently suffered an accidental injury while helping a friend move. It should not affect his ability to get onto the field this summer during Raiders training camp, however.

Henry Ruggs cut his thigh helping a friend move

Last week, Raider Nation was sent into a bit of a tizzy when a rumor emerged that Ruggs suffered a potentially life-threatening thigh injury. Afterward, verified reporters shut down that notion but confirmed he did have a laceration in his thigh. His father also confirmed that injury, saying he will be “okay,” and Ruggs did require crutches afterward.

The Raiders rookie expected to be good to go for training camp, though. Per Adam Caplan of Inside the Birds, Ruggs “is expected to be fully recovered from the cut he recently suffered on one of his thighs way before training camp starts.”

That’s the best possible news. The Raiders are counting on this former Alabama Crimson Tide star to come through in a big way in 2020.

Scintillating 40 time led to Henry Ruggs III being 12th selection in 2020 NFL Draft

During the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, Ruggs electrified everyone watching with a blazing-fast 40 time. It fell short of the all-time record 40 of 4.22 seconds, put up by John Ross a few years back. But the speed was evident, and it only accentuated what Ruggs already put on tape for three years at Alabama.

Quite simply, this kid is a nightmare for opposing defensive backs in the open field.

The Raiders used the 12th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft to select Ruggs this past April. If all goes according to plan, he will instantly become a main weapon for Derek Carr and Jon Gruden this season.

During three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Ruggs caught 98 passes for 1,716 yards and 24 touchdowns.
