Leon Rose might be the new man in town running the ship for the New York Knicks. In no way does this mean that the team president’s first major decision in that role is going over well with fan base in the Big Apple. In fact, it’s a rather interesting move.

New York Knicks shockingly waive Allonzo Trier, claim Theo Pinson off waivers

An undrafted free agent out of Arizona back in 2018, Trier has shown a ton of promise in two seasons with New York. The guard averaged 10.9 points and 3.1 rebounds on a resounding 39% shooting from distance last season. He took a bit of a step back as a sophomore, dealing with injuries and inconsistent playing time. Even then, this move has to be considered shocking.

It’s not like New York has a loaded roster. The team finished its truncated 2019-20 campaign with a 21-45 record. It lacks playable talent throughout the roster.

The good news for Knicks fans? They signed a wing in Pinson who shot 29% from the field this season.
