Colin Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since agreeing to part ways with the San Francisco 49ers in March of 2017. But that hasn’t stopped him from staying in game shape.
For the past few years, the blackballed former Super Bowl quarterback has worked toward a return. He has consistently stated that he’s physically ready for the rigors of the NFL. That hasn’t changed one bit.
Colin Kaepernick still works out daily in pursuit of NFL job
TMZ Sports reported Monday that Kaepernick is still training daily as he pursues another chance to play in the NFL. One source told TMZ that Kaepernick is “in the best shape of his life.”
Last year, the NFL organized a workout for Kaepernick. The video shows without a shadow of doubt that he’s still in phenomenal shape, and that he can still throw the ball a mile with accuracy.
NFL could be shifting toward a return for Colin Kaepernick
There is no doubt whatsoever that Kaepernick has remained unsigned since 2017 because of his peaceful protests against police brutality during the 2016 season. That’s been proved time and time again.
However, the NFL has publicly stated it was wrong to have ignored players in the past and that it supports the Black Lives Matter movement. And in the wake of that about-face, there is renewed optimism that Kaepernick might get a real chance to sign with an NFL team soon.
Kaepernick isn’t just some scrub
During his six-year NFL career, Kaepernick was a winner who also was responsible for jaw-dropping plays on a regular basis (watch here).
He also piled up the stats: Kaepernick passed for 12,271 yards with 72 touchdowns and just 30 interceptions in 69 games. He was also a dynamic runner, piling up 2,300 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.
There is no doubt that Kaepernick is better than any backup quarterback in the league. You could argue he’d be better than many starters, if he were given a real chance to play again. Long story short: He deserves another chance to play. If the NFL really is serious about walking the walk after talking the talk on BLM, signing Kaepernick is a no-brainer.
