The USC Trojans fired head coach Lane Kiffin on an airport tarmac in September 2013. After working his way back up the coaching ranks, Kiffin could get his shot at revenge with the Ole Miss Rebels in just a few years.

On Monday, USC announced a scheduled home-and-home series with Ole Miss set to take place in 2025 and ’26. It will mark Kiffin’s first opportunity to coach against the team that fired him in iconic fashion nearly seven years ago.

The Rebels would play at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Aug. 30, 2025 and the Trojans would go to Oxford on Sept. 19, 2026.

The Trojans hired Kiffin away from the University of Tennessee after just one season in Knoxville. After he led the Trojans to an 8-5 record in his first season, USC improved to 10-2 during the 2011 season. He would win just 10 games over the next two years, leading to his dismissal after the team started 3-2 in 2013.

After working under Nick Saban as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide (2014-’16), Kiffin got his second chance at Florida Atlantic University. The Owls posted a 27-13 record under Kiffin, winning the Boca Raton Bowl twice and posting two 11-win seasons.

Ole Miss hired Kiffin in December and the 45-year-old coach has become a thorn in the side of several top programs. He poached one of Jim Harbaugh’s top assistants in February then stole a prized recruit from the Florida Gators shortly after. If Kiffin can build upon his success, this home-and-home match against USC should be epic.
