The 2017 NFL Draft has not turned out to be plentiful for teams that selected in the top-10. No. 2 overall pick, Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, became the latest top pick to see his contract option for the 2021 declined.
We can now add injury-plagued Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross to the mix. Ross will now become a free agent after the 2020 season after Cincinnati decided on Saturday to decline his option.
The No. 9 overall pick of Cincinnati back in 2017, the 25-year-old receiver has suited up for just 24 games over the course of his first three NFL seasons. He started out last year strong, tallying 506 yards in eight games before suffering a season-ending injury.
This could suggest that the Bengals will look to move Ross in a trade ahead of the 2020 season. They just spent a second-round pick on Tee Higgins. With starters A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd set to return, there’s no real room for Ross on the roster.
