Phillies star Bryce Harper donates $500,000 for COVID-19 relief

Bryce Harper, MLB

Philadelphia Phillies star and former NL MVP Bryce Harper knows a thing or two about being involved in multiple communities around the United States.

Harper was born and raised in Las Vegas. He ultimately played college ball in the nearby suburb of Henderson before a tremendous stint with the Washington Nationals in D.C.

Signed by Philadelphia last year, Harper is now a major part of that community as it attempts to slow the trend of the COVID-19 pandemic. He’s now doing something about it, donating a cool half million to both the Vegas and Philadelphia areas.

His donations went directly to Philabundance in Philadelphia and Three Square and Direct Relief in Las Vegas. Philabundance is a food bank serving the needy in that city. Meanwhile, Three Square offers emergency food relief during the COVID-19 pandemic and Direct Relief helps people with services during times of crisis.

Signed to a 13-year, $330 million contract back in February of 2019, the 27-year-old Harper can more than afford this. It doesn’t make his generosity and less awesome.
