The state of Washington was the first hotspot for COVID-19 in the United States. While the curve has flattened in Washington, things are still a bit tenuous right now.

With their season currently suspended, MLB’s Seattle Mariners are doing something to help out. The Mariners will host a blood drive at T-Mobile Park near downtown Seattle to help COVID-19 first responders.

“The Mariners, in conjunction with Bloodworks Northwest, will host a “Pop-up Blood Drive Experience” three times a week through May 2,” Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reported.

These events are to help make sure that blood needs are met during the COVID-19 pandemic. Every fan who donates will receive two tickets to a Mariners game should the 2020 season actually take place.

The latest reports are that MLB is hoping for its season to start some time in May in Arizona without fans in attendance. That seems to be a pipe dream at this point.

For its part, Washington has had nearly 9,100 cases of COVID-19 with 421 deaths.
