Magic Johnson pays tribute to the late-great Bill Withers

Bill Withers dies

The entertainment world and fans of classic music were rocked by the seemingly sudden passing of the legendary Bill Withers at the age of 81 on Friday.

A three-time Grammy winner, Withers is best known for soul hits such as “ Lean on Me, ” “Lovely Day” and “Ain’t No Sunshine.”

His music transcended genres and generations. He was a larger than life figure during a brilliant career that spanned over three decades and included his songs being played at multiple Presidential Inaugurations.

As the entertainment industry paid its respects to Mr. Withers on Friday, all-time NBA great Magic Johnson showered the late-great blues star with praise on social media.

As you can tell, Johnson and Withers seemed to be great friends before his passing due to heart complications.

For Magic, it has been a tragic past few months. It was just back in January that fellow former Lakers star Kobe Bryant and his daughter were killed in a helicopter accident in Southern California.

As it relates to Withers, our thoughts obviously go out to his family. Withers is survived by his wife, Marcia, and children, Todd and Kori.
