LeBron James rookie Cavaliers jersey up for auction and could set record

A Cleveland Cavaliers rookie jersey worn by Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James in 2003 has hit the auction and could sell for a record price.

As reported by TMZ Sports, the jersey, which is being auctioned by Goldin Auctions, “was worn during King James’ 5th and 8th games of his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.”

He first wore this jersey on November 7, 2003, against the Indiana Pacers, and then again wore it on November 12 in his first pro game ever against Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat.

“LeBron James memorabilia is some of the most sought-after memorabilia currently,” Ken Goldin told TMZ Sports, who noted “we are hoping this jersey will set the record for the highest price paid for a basketball jersey which is $630,300.00.”

Earlier this year, a LeBron James basketball card broke a record by selling for $900,000 — clearly his memorabilia is hot right now.
