LeBron James pushes back against idea NBA season should be canceled

NBA, players

Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James has been unusually quiet since the NBA suspended its season six weeks ago over COVID-19 fears.

Prior to the season being suspended, the three-time NBA champ initially indicated that he would not play without fans in attendance. He’s since backtracked from that statement.

James is now out here pushing back against the idea that some around the Association want the remainder of the 2019-20 season to be canceled altogether.

James’ comments are interesting in that they come after Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr suggested that the season might in fact be canceled. It’s an opinion shared by some all-time greats, including Hall of Famer Charles Barkley.

A recent report, however, does suggest that the season could start up at some point this summer. Walt Disney World in Orlando is seen as a potential destination to host NBA games. Las Vegas has been bandied about in the past, too.

James’ comments are not without substance. He remains the face of the NBA. If he’s hellbent on resuming the season at some point, the expectation is that other players are of the same belief.
