Kentucky’s John Calipari ‘fully’ expects college basketball to take place in November

John Calipari

With sports canceled for the foreseeable future due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kentucky head basketball coach John Calipari maintains an optimistic approach to the college basketball season.

As shared by Paul Finebaum on Thursday, Calipari said, “I fully expect us to be playing basketball in November. I really do.”

That’s a sentiment we’d love to believe. And given the fact that November (when college basketball is slated to start) is seven months away, it seems more feasible than other sports like MLB returning any time soon.

Of course, a heck of a lot has to happen before any sports can happen again. At this time, the United States is still experiencing a significant shortage of testing, so the federal government has no idea where all the hot spots really are, and the rising wave of cases continues to swell daily as the global total eclipsed one million cases on Thursday.

Hopefully, Calipari is correct. Hopefully, by November, the nightmare that is the COVID-19 pandemic will be in our rear-view mirror. Until then, please do follow the CDC guidelines, and stay safe, folks.
