Jameis Winston helps launch COVID-19 hotline

Jameis Winston

While Jameis Winston might have to wait to find an NFL team, the 26-year-old quarterback isn’t waiting to help communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Winston announced on Monday that he is launching a toll-free COVID-19 hotline, partnering with Dr. Scott Kelley, to provide assistance to those with questions or concerns about the virus.

The helpline, which can be reached at 844TEST-COVID, will serve as a triage to help determine if those feeling sick should seek medical attention or remain at home. By doing so, the hotline will hopefully ease some of the pressure overcrowded hospitals are facing during the ongoing pandemic.

Winston also encourages everyone to follow stay-at-home orders and to practice social distancing when they go outside. Both measures are easy ways to avoid a greater chance of exposure to COVID-19, commonly known as the coronavirus, and prevent others from potentially being exposed to it through asymptomatic carriers.
