The first round of the 2020 NFL Draft is in the books, but there is still plenty of talent left on the board. We often see that some of the game’s biggest stars come from Day 2 of the NFL Draft and that will likely be the case once again this year with some big names still available on Friday.
We came away with plenty of takeaways from the first round on Thursday, but Day 2 of the NFL Draft is where the best general managers make their mark. Teams like the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts traded down specifically to take advantage of this year’s deep draft class and the pool of talent available reflects their decisions paying off.
Let’s dive into Day 2 of the NFL Draft and take a look at what could happen with our mock draft of the second round.

After taking their franchise quarterback, the Bengals use their next pick to make sure he is protected with a high-upside tackle prospect. The Saints want to make a big jump on Day 2 and with two second-round picks this year, the Colts happily take a first in 2021. The New England Patriots wait to take a quarterback, instead, strengthening their secondary with a top safety. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins grab an outstanding running back and create an incredible duo with Tua Tagovailoa and Jonathan Taylor.

The Colts take a chance on their quarterback of the future with Hurts, who can develop with an excellent coaching staff and even be used as an offensive weapon in his rookie season. The dream draft for the Buccaneers continues with D’Andre Swift falling into their lips, while the Steelers grab an excellent runner to strengthen their attack. The Cowboys would have loved to get McKinney, but Winfield Jr. will be a playmaker in their secondary.

The run on offensive skill players continues with the Bills adding Akers to create an electrifying duo with Devin Singletary. The Baltimore Ravens, after already taking advantage of one sliding LSU star, grab their new starter at center to solidify their offensive line. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings build upon their strong draft by grabbing a tackle that generated some first-round buzz. Rounding that out, the Ravens and Green Bay Packers add two talented receivers to help provide their quarterbacks with some help.
