Todd Gurley has touching reason he’s considering changing jersey number with Falcons

Todd Gurley trade

New Atlanta Falcons running back Todd Gurley has worn No. 30 for his entire NFL career, but he could change it this year for a really touching reason.

As shared by Vaughn McClure of ESPN, Gurley told former NFL star Chris Long he’s thinking about changing his number because his new Falcons teammate, Qadree Ollison, wears No. 30 in honor of his murdered brother.

Gurley spent his first five NFL seasons as a member of the Los Angeles Rams but was released this offseason. It didn’t take him long to find a new home in Atlanta, landing with the Falcons on a one-year contract.

No doubt, taking a different number for Ollison’s sake would go a long way toward building rapport with his new teammates. Gurley wore No. 3 at Georgia before entering the NFL. Currently, nobody on Atlanta’s roster wears No. 3, so going back to his old number would make a ton of sense.
