Star Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake to sign transition tag tender

Kenyan Drake transition tag

The Arizona Cardinals’ acquisition of running back Kenyan Drake last season was among the most underrated moves around the NFL in the lead up to the annual trade deadline.

Drake, 26, ended up recording 814 total yards and eight touchdowns at a clip of 5.4 yards per touch in eight games with Arizona.

He’s now slated to return to the desert. Drake and his agency announced on Twitter Saturday that the electric back is signing the transition tag tender Arizona placed on him earlier this month.

Said transition tag will pay Drake $8.48 million next season. That salary ranks fifth among NFL running backs.

A third-round pick out of Alabama back in 2016, Drake tallied nearly 2,500 total yards in parts of four seasons with Miami before being dealt to Arizona. He’ll now be the Cardinals’ full-time starter following the trade of David Johnson.
