Rutgers cancels baseball game after equipment was sprayed with jet fuel

Rutgers college baseball

There’s always a first in life. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights baseball program found this out in more ways than one over the weekend. The team announced on Monday that its scheduled game against St. Joseph’s for the following day has been cancelled.

Why? We’re glad you asked. Their equipment was sprayed by jet fuel during a layover in Salt Lake City coming back from a three-game series against Washington State in Arizona.

You simply can’t make this stuff up. There’s even photographic evidence.

Either someone close to the St. Joseph’s baseball program did not want to play Rutgers or this was an accident of epic proportions. We’ll let you decide.

Rutgers currently boasts a 5-5 record on the season with three of those wins coming against North Florida. Those who expected to attend the game on Tuesday aren’t missing much.

No word yet if the plane in question is missing its fuel. That would not be a great thing.
