Report: Ravens place QB Robert Griffin III on trade block

Robert Griffin III trade

Here’s a blast from the past. Having started a combined one game since the end of the 2016 season, Baltimore Ravens backup quarterback Robert Griffin III is seemingly a forgotten man.

That may no longer be the case. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Ravens have placed RGIII on the trade block. There’s also some reported interest in his services.

The No. 2 overall pick back in 2012, Griffin III fellow out of favor with his original Washington Redskins squad after a tremendous start to his career. That had to do with a major knee injury and the Skins’ handling of it behind the scenes.

The 30-year-old Griffin started 28 games in his first two NFL seasons, putting up north of 7,700 total yards with 43 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He led Washington to a playoff appearance as a rookie.

Any interest in RGIII would be for him to remain in his current role as a backup quarterback. Baltimore has no need for the veteran with reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson under center and 2019 draft pick Trace McSorley backing him up.
