Report: Panthers sign former Jets star WR Robby Anderson

Robby Anderson, Panthers

The Carolina Panthers have been busy on Tuesday. On the heels of the team releasing former NFL MVP Cam Newton, Carolina has found a solid target for its new quarterback.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Carolina has signed 26-year-old former New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson to a two-year, $20 million contract. The deal will pay Anderson $12 million in 2020.

This is a big get for a Panthers squad that needs more options for new quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. The 6-foot-3 Anderson is averaging 55 receptions for north of 800 yards over the past three seasons.

The big-bodied pass catcher will now team up with running back Christian McCaffrey as well as fellow receivers D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel to form an elite skill-position group for first-year head coach Matt Rhule. Those three tallied a combined 257 receptions for north of 2,800 yards a season ago.
