Report: NFL still investigating Patriots for videotaping scandal

NFL, Patriots

Nearly four months after the NFL launched its investigation into the New England Patriots’ videotaping scandal, the league’s investigation is reportedly still ongoing and they’ve requested cell phones and emails from Patriots’ personnel.

According to The Athletic’s Jay Glazer, the NFL’s investigation into the Patriots illegally recording the Cincinnati Bengals sideline remains ongoing. Investigators for the league requested cell phones and emails of the personnel involved, but it’s believed Bill Belichick had zero involvement.

The NFL refuted reports in early January that it was set to announce discipline for the Patriots. While the league initially hoped to conduct a quick and thorough investigation that didn’t drag deep into the offseason, the league remains without a timeline for a conclusion to its investigation.

Stunning video footage captured how the Patriots’ employee recorded the Bengals’ sideline. The Patriots announced that the footage was being shot for their series “Do Your Job”, which highlighted the work of different employees in the organization.

The NFL was reportedly considering all of its options to discipline the Patriots, including a potential fine for the organization. As of now, though, it remains to be seen when the investigation will conclude and what the eventual discipline might be.
