The Colorado Buffaloes football program reportedly has landed on a favorite to become the next head coach, Miami Dolphins assistant Karl Dorrell.

Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports shared this breaking news on Saturday, noting that “numerous coaches involved in the job have been told they aren’t getting it.”

Shortly afterward, Dan Wolken of USA Today shared that Dorrell will get the job “barring a last-minute snag.”

Dorrell, 56, has been involved in coaching at the collegiate and NFL levels since 1989. He’s been a wide receivers coach for the New York Jets and Dolphins since 2015, spending last year in Miami after a four-year stint with the Jets. He also spent two seasons as the quarterback coach for the Houston Texans.

The Colorado program has swung and missed on many other top targets, including Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy. Most recently, Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman was mentioned as a potential target.

Thankfully, it now appears the school has finally found its man.
