Report: Clippers blocked Mavericks and Lakers in trade for Marcus Morris

Marcus Morris Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers pulled off a pretty big deal ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, acquiring star forward Marcus Morris on the cheap in a three-team trade.

Not only this, it looks like the Clippers blocked two conference rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks, from upgrading their rosters ahead of the deadline.

This likely was not the Clippers intention, but it does act as an unintended consequence and could have major ramifications down the stretch.

The New York Knicks reportedly demanded Green, Kyle Kuzma and draft-pick compensation from the Lakers for Morris. They ended up settling for a 2020 first-round pick from the Clippers, a 2021 second-round pick and Mo Harkless.

Bad teams will continue to be bad.

As it relates to the Clippers move, it sure does narrow the gap between them and the Lakers. That’s for sure.
