The Portland Trail Blazers got some great news one day after star guard Damian Lillard left the court with a groin injury.

Lillard looked to be in serious pain as he exited Wednesday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The hope was that it wouldn’t be a long-term injury.

It isn’t. Lillard is slated to miss one to two weeks after suffering a groin strain.

Portland does not play again until a week from Friday. Technically, there’s a chance Lillard will not miss a single game outside of this week’s festivities in Chicago.

Currently four games out of the final playoff spot out west, Portland can’t afford to take it slow with the All-Star. That could have long-term ramifications if he’s not 100% healthy when he returns to the court.

Lillard, 29, has been absolutely ridiculous this season. He’s averaging 34.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 8.5 assists over the course of the past 21 games.
