Ohio State football players charged with rape, kidnapping dismissed from program

Amir Riep

Ohio State football players Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint were booked into jail early Wednesday morning on charges of rape and kidnapping.

The story shocked the Columbus community and the broader college football world. These two have been accused of assaulting a woman in an apartment back on Feb. 4. The details of the allegations are about as troubling as it gets.

Riep and Wint have now been dismissed from the Ohio State football program by head coach Ryan Day, the school announced on Wednesday.

It remains to be seen how the legal process is going to play out. For now, both men will not be on the gridiron.

Wint, a 6-foot-0 safety, was entering redshirt senior season. He recorded nine tackles and a sack in six games last season. Meanwhile, Riep was also entering senior season and recorded two interceptions in 10 games a season ago.
