Las Vegas police union files complaint over 2020 NFL Draft

NFL compensatory picks

The 2020 NFL Draft in Las Vegas promises to be an absolute show. The league made sure of that by deciding to hold the annual event at the renowned Fountains of Bellagio.

Some authorities within the local community are not too happy with the plans. Specifically, the Las Vegas Police Protective Association has filed a complaint claiming unfair labor practices for those tasked with covering the three-day event.

According to a local ABC News affiliate in the desert metropolis, the complaint alleges that the department’s restrictions on vacations, leave and out of state travel during the draft represents “unfair labor practice.”

The  Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced blackout dates for their officers from April 23-25, the dates of the annual event.

An event of this ilk will ultimately bring in some of the toughest security measures we’ll see around the sports world. It’s akin to the Super Bowl. That’s only magnified when it comes to a high-threat target on the Las Vegas strip.
