Vanessa Bryant and her family are on hand at the Staples Center on Monday to memorialize her husband and daughter, both of whom passed away back on Jan 26 in a tragic Southern California helicopter accident.
Kobe and Gianna Bryant were among the nine killed after a chopper piloted by Ara George Zobayan crashed outside of Los Angeles in horrible weather conditions.
Still mourning her losses, Vanessa has reportedly filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Island Express, the company that owned the doomed helicopter.
“The lawsuit claims the pilot failed to properly monitor and assess the weather prior to takeoff, failed to obtain proper weather data prior to the flight, failed to abort the flight when he knew of the cloudy condition, failed to maintain control of the helicopter and failed to avoid ‘natural obstacles’ in the flight path,” TMZ Sports reported Monday afternoon.
Zobayan was apparently disciplined back in 2015 for “violating the visual flight rule minimums by flying into an airspace of reduced visibility.” This is allegedly the same issue that led to the chopper going down in Calabasas less than a month ago.
Mrs. Bryant’s suit seeks damages for loss of love, affection, care, society, service, comfort, support, companionship, right to support and future support, among other aspects.
It’s not yet known what the lawsuit is demanding in damages.
