Washington Nationals outfielder Adam Eaton and pitcher Aaron Barrett became a part of MLB history this October when they won the World Series. On Thursday, they might have become part of a different kind of history by being the first MLB players to play catch at 35,000-feet.
Both players were returning from a USO trip to Europe and riding an Air Force C-17 cargo plane when they decided to kill some of the time during the long flight back. So, with spring training just a few weeks away, they played a game of catch.
It proved to be the perfect way for both players to have a little fun in a unique spot. While Coors Field gets plenty of attention for its unique altitude at 5,280-feet above sea level, that’s nothing compared to the heights Barrett and Eaton were at during their game of catch.
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of a USO tour and spend time with the men and women in the military. It’s great to see Barrett and Eaton made the most of their entire trip by spending time with the troops and getting in a unique game of catch.
It’s probably going to be difficult for any of their teammates to top this offseason story when they come together for spring training.
