Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd doesn’t seem to be too surprised by allegations of the Boston Red Sox cheating in 2018. In fact, the Tigers’ pitcher indicated that the entire team had suspicions about the Red Sox during the 2018 season.
During an interview with MLB Network, Boyd shared that he and his teammates had a feeling something was going on in Boston. It led to the team always needing to use multiple signs and adjust their pitching approach when they went to Fenway Park.
As Boyd detailed, it put Tigers’ players in a place where they needed to be alert every time they pitched. While they didn’t know if the Red Sox were using legal or illegal methods, Boston’s system was clearly apparent to other teams and played a factor in how they approached a series against the Red Sox.
