Report: Matt Rhule interested in LSU’s Joe Brady for Panthers’ OC gig

After agreeing to a record-breaking deal to become the Carolina Panthers head coach, Matt Rhule is now working to put together his coaching staff and he’s reportedly set his focus on one of the top offensive minds at any level.

According to The Football Scoop’s Scott Roussel, Rhule is interested in speaking with LSU Tigers passing game coordinator Joe Brady about the Panthers’ vacant offensive coordinator position.

While the 30-year-old isn’t LSU’s offensive coordinator, Brady is credited heavily with helping transform LSU’s offense from its previous state of mediocrity into a spread attack that has electrified college football.

LSU remains hopeful that it can keep Brady’s brilliant offensive mind on the staff, but he is one of the most coveted coaches at the collegiate and professional levels. He won the Broyles Award, given to the best assistant coach in college football, thanks to his tremendous work making Joe Burrow a Heisman Trophy winner and the consensus No. 1 pick in recent mock drafts.

Brady already comes with NFL experience thanks to his work as an offensive assistant on Sean Payton’s staff with the New Orleans Saints from 2017-’18. He also shares the same agent as Rhule, which could be an additional factor that could facilitate talks.

While Brady will undoubtedly remain focused on helping LSU win the national championship on Monday, the possibility exists that it could be his last game with the Tigers.
