NBA MVP: Damian Lillard

Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard has been beloved by the city since the moment he arrived in 2012. Now, the city’s mayor wants to honor him with “Damian Lillard Day.”

After Lillard’s dominant performance against the Golden State Warriors, in which he set multiple franchise records, Ted Wheeler announced that the city will make sure Lillard has his own day.

The 29-year-old point guard clearly means a lot to the city. He helped the Trail Blazers to the playoffs for six consecutive seasons, including a trip to the Western Conference Finals this past season.

Many fans would certainly love to honor the city’s favorite athlete with a special occasion and to let him know that he is appreciated. However, based on the citizens replying to the mayor’s tweet, the idea might not be as warmly received as one might think.
