NBA MVP: Kevin Durant

Just a few years after they were teammates on the court, Kevin Durant and Kendrick Perkins traded barbs with each other on Thursday night in another heated Twitter exchange involving one of the NBA’s biggest stars.

It started on Thursday morning when Perkins, who played in Oklahoma City from 2010-’14, announced that he would appear on SportsCenter and argue why Russell Westbrook is the best player to ever suit up for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

As Oklahoma City’s fans honored Westbrook with a touching tribute video and an incredible ovation at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Thursday night, Durant took the stage on Twitter to fire back at Perkins’ dig towards Durant’s failure to win a championship in OKC.

Perkins confirmed that he didn’t do much contributing during the team’s playoff years, averaging just 3.8 points, 3.3 fouls and 1.6 turnovers in 67 playoff games with the Thunder. He then delivered another shot at Durant, digging at the All-Star forward for leaving Oklahoma City and joining the Golden State Warriors after losing to them in the playoffs.

Obviously, Durant didn’t take too kindly to the criticism he likely regularly hears from fans and critics and is seemingly tired of the same jokes. So, he took one more pointed jab at Perkins’ work ethic and his lack of skills.

Durant has proven to be one of the best NBA players in his generation and one of the most prolific scorers in the history of the game. He’s also proven to be a bit sensitive to criticism on Twitter and willing to fire back at anyone, including former teammates, who take shots.
