Former MVP Dustin Pedroia suffers significant setback in return from injury

Dustin Pedroia Injury

Boston Red Sox second baseman and former AL MVP Dustin Pedroia’s career could very well be over.

The 36-year-old infielder has played in a grand total of nine games over the past two seasons after suffering a knee injury back in 2017.

According to Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe, Pedroia is now dealing with yet another setback in his return to the diamond.

There’s no more information available at this time outside of the four-time All-Star discussing his options with his family, among others.

Based on the report, it sure does look like Pedroia could be contemplating retirement. For good reason. He’s done everything possible to return to the diamond, only to suffer setback after setback.

If this is indeed the end of the line, Pedroia finishes his career with a .299 average, 1,805 hits, four Gold Glove awards, three World Series titles and an MVP.
