Andy Reid ‘proud’ of Tyreek Hill’s growth, maturity

The Kansas City Chiefs drew some criticism when they signed troubled receiver Tyreek Hill to a $54 million extension this season. However, head coach Andy Reid believes that Hill is delivering on the team’s hopes that he would grow as a player and person.

Hill was investigated for a potential connection to alleged child abuse during the offseason but was ultimately not disciplined following a league investigation. The Chiefs moved forward with their star receiver and Reid has been pleased with the 25-year-old’s growth since.

“Tyreek’s done a nice job with having signed the contract but also his life off the field and managing that,” Andy Reid said, via NFL.com. “I’m proud of him for that, to see growth in somebody. You like to see that with these young guys. He’s doing well as a father, and he’s doing well as a football player, and we’re lucky to have him.”

Reid’s praise of Hill came a day after team chairman Clark Hunt praised the star receiver for the maturity and growth he showed this season and credited him for the changes he made in his life.

While Hill was limited by injuries this season and fell short of the 1,000-yard mark, the Chiefs likely see his growth off the field as an even bigger positive. Now that he’s healthy, Hill figures to be a big part of Kansas City’s plan of attack for Super Bowl LIV.
