When one player makes a mistake in a big moment, teammates do whatever they can to pick him up. During Saturday’s FCS playoff game between the Monmouth Hawks and James Madison Dukes, we saw that in epic fashion in the game’s opening minute.

Hawks receiver Lonnie Moore IV hauled in the opening kickoff at the five-yard line. After making it to the 17-yard line, he got drilled and coughed up the football as it sent bouncing away from everyone. While the Hawks recovered the fumble, it pinned the offense back at its six-yard line.

Fortunately for Moore, running back Pete Guerriero saved the day. On the first play of Monmouth’s drive, the Hawks put it in the hands of the junior running back and he went the distance for a 96-yard touchdown.

The epic sequence proved to be quite the rollercoaster ride for everyone in attendance, especially those rooting for the Hawks. From the thrill of the opening kickoff in a playoff to a disastrous fumble and then capped off with a 96-yard touchdown in a matter of seconds.

Oh, it gets better too. After the Dukes tied the game on their first drive, Moore made his shot at redemption count with a 93-yard kickoff return touchdown.
