WATCH: Broncos’ security guard carted off field after trying to take down fan who rushed field

Working as a security guard for an NFL team isn’t supposed to be a dangerous job. Unfortunately for a Denver Broncos’ security worker, that proved not to be the case on Sunday after suffering an injury while trying to chase a fan that rushed the field.

During the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, a fan hopped the wall and ran around the field. As security tried to surround him, the fan juked past one guard and sent him collapsing to the ground.

As the guard remained down on the ground, the fan was blasted by an officer and taken to the ground before being handcuffed. Attention quickly turned towards the injured security guard, who needed to be carted off the field.

As video from fans showed, the guard couldn’t put any weight on his leg after going to the ground and his leg needed to be immobilized.

Fortunately, the guard was able to give the fans a thumbs up after being carted off and he received a nice ovation as he departed.

Hopefully, he didn’t suffer a significant injury and can return next season to protecting the sidelines at Empower Field at Mile High.
