Texans designate J.J. Watt to return off injured reserve

J.J. Watt injury

The AFC South champion Houston Texans could be getting a key cog back for the playoffs.

According to multiple media reports, Houston designated star pass rusher J.J. Watt to return off injured reserve. This sets into motion the possibility Watt will be able to go in the postseason.

Watt suffered a torn pectoral muscle back in Week 8 against the Oakland Raiders and has been out since.

If he’s able to return, this would qualify as yet another remarkable accomplishment for the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Injuries of this ilk tend to cost a player several months.

Watt has recorded 20 quarterback hits and four sacks in eight games this season.

For their part, the Texans will play Wild Card Weekend. They sure hope Watt will be a go. It’s looking good right now.
