Report: Oklahoma star Ronnie Perkins among three players suspended for Peach Bowl vs. LSU

As the Oklahoma Sooners prepare for their College Football Playoff matchup against the LSU Tigers in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 28, they’ll have to do it without three players following suspensions.

According to Sooner Scoop, Oklahoma suspended pass rusher Ronnie Perkins, along with wide receiver Trejan Bridges and running back Rhamondre Stevenson for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The report doesn’t indicate what caused the players to be suspended nor how long they are prevented from playing.

Perkins is Oklahoma’s best edge rusher with a team-high six sacks and the sophomore was expected to play a key role in Oklahoma’s efforts to stop Joe Burrow and LSU’s dynamic offense.

Stevenson is one of Oklahoma’s leading rushers. He received 64 carries this season and rushed for 515 yards with six touchdowns. Bridges, a freshman, has played a small role in Oklahoma’s offense this season with 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

LSU already came into the week as a 14-point favorite over Oklahoma. Now missing one of its best defensive players and a key running back, the Sooners’ odds of pulling off the playoff upset are even slimmer.
