The Houston Astros have reportedly come to an agreement with catcher Martin Maldonado, who took less money to come back to the club in 2020.

Per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Maldonado agreed to a two-year, $7 million deal with the Astros.

Last season, Maldonado played 27 regular-season games with the Astros after being traded by the Chicago Cubs. He also appeared in 14 games during the team’s postseason run.

He had previously been traded to Chicago by the Kansas City Royals, who signed him to a one-year deal prior to the 2019 season.

The one-time Gold Glove winner is best known for his work behind the plate, not at it. A career .219 batter, he’s a defensive specialist.
