Patriots cut trick-shot kicker Josh Gable, 24 hours after signing him

New England Patriots 2017 NFL Mock Draft. Vito Babe Parilli

The New England Patriots had the NFL world buzzing a bit when they signed trick-shot kicker Josh Gable to their practice squad on Thursday. But one day later, Gable was released.

The Patriots announced the roster move on Twitter Friday afternoon.

Formerly a pro soccer player who earned some attention from NFL teams due to his involvement with the Spring League, Gable has never played in an NFL game to this point in his career.

Though, after checking out his trick-shot arsenal, it would be fun to see if Gable could make it as a placekicker in the league.

He’s had a couple of chances before his latest signing in New England. Most recently, as a member of the Indoor Football League’s Tucson Sugar Skulls, Gable converted 6-of-16 field goals and 50-of-57 extra points during the 2019 season.
